I love suburbia. I love our house and our yard and our basement. I love having 2 cars in the driveway, a garage full of tools, neighbours who come by and shovel the snow off your driveway when you had a rough night and were planning on staying in bed as long as possible.
Part of moving out to the ‘burbs though was finding a house that we could make our own. It had to be move-in ready so we didn’t bring a toddler into a construction zone, but with options for improvements down the road. As we were looking for houses we were more interested in what CAN we fix over what do we NEED to fix, and I think we found a great compromise with our place.
That said, my Honey Do list is getting longer and longer. The kitchen drawers need to be re-seated, we are going to completely re-design the back yard, I want to tear out the garage and design it to be more appropriate for a man of my height… the list goes on and I find myself wondering where to start, and what I can handle myself, vs. where I should hire a professional.
Fortunately I was offered a set of tickets to the GTA Home & Reno show from Feb. 16 – 19 at the International Centre. With guest speakers Scott McGillivray, Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault, and Janice Fedak I’m sure to pick up some tips and ideas for other projects. The show also has family day activities for children, and a hands-on centre to teach basic skills.
Better still? I was given 4 tickets to give away! Enter below for your chance to win a set of 2 tickets (General Admission regularly $15, children under 12 are free). Enjoy the show!!
Good luck out there.
