Back in June I started a new job, and I absolutely love it. What I don’t love is the 11 hours away from my family, the hour long commute each way standing sandwiched between strangers who were running late and didn’t have time to shower, and the time away from writing about the great things my kids are doing.
I’ve kept up with social as best I can, I even started a new Instagram account for my DIY projects (It’s mostly just compiling everything I’ve already posted, but there will be some new stuff soon!). I’ll be back once everything calms down a little.
In the meantime here are some updates from the last 5 months:
The Wee Baby T isn’t so wee anymore. He’s gotten into swimming classes and is absolutely crushing it! He isn’t too keen on floating on his back, but we’re working on that. Remy on the other hand is a natural. She loves getting in and splashing around, absolutely no fear. I’d strongly recommend swimming classes for parents of 6 month olds, it’s fun to watch them play.
The words just don’t stop now. T is constantly chatting about trains, Liverpool FC (I’m so proud!), and going to the park. There are still words that we can’t quite catch, but with a little help from context we figure it out. Remy has started babbling, but I think there is some context in there too. She seems to properly identify mum and dad – the babble switches based on who is in front of her. When we feed her she will say ‘Mo mo mo mo’, which I’m going out on a limb and assuming means ‘more’, since that’s the only time she says it. Maybe I’m just trying to get her caught up to her brother so they can start running footie drills.
T has been walking for a while now, but always with a watchful eye and a set of hands ready to catch him before his face hits the concrete. Now I feel confident that he can go off on an adventure with Mima (his blanket) and the supplies that will fit in his little backpack. If we aren’t in a rush, we let him walk and pick the direction. We don’t have anywhere to go! Remy has been rolling about for the last few weeks, and has mastered sitting up on her own. She does the bum scooch to get around the living room, and has pulled herself up to her hands and knees, but no crawling yet.
We’ve had so much going on this fall. K is on the Santa parade committee, the kids are loving the community centre and library drop-in classes, Remy is in sensory play, and T goes to an art class. The house is coming along nicely, and I think I’ll get a lot of my projects done as winter closes in and I have fewer excuses to go outside.
I know I’ve been away for a while, but stick with me – I have every intention to come back! In the meantime make sure you are following me on Instagram HERE and HERE, I’ll be doing a bit more ‘micro-blogging’!
Thanks for reading, it means the world to me that you’ve found Dadsense.ca informative, or just a fun way to pass the time. Good luck out there!
