On Sleep, or the lack thereof:

It’s funny, over the past 12 months I have referenced back to some of my own material for a little extra help when it comes to remembering what to do next, only to find that my son and daughter are completely different! The Wee Baby T was never an easy sleeper, but he was comfortable laying in bed on his own and drifting off to sleep, but REMY on the other hand – well she needs to hold your hand to fall asleep, and heaven help you if you try to leave.

I know sleep training is hard. I remember running in to T’s room at the slightest sound to soothe him before he could fully wake up. I remember failing at this miserably and sitting in a chair until he would calm back down again. REMY seems to be an entirely different beast.

Maybe it’s because I’m a push-over, maybe it’s because she’s my little girl, maybe it’s because she is right next to her brother’s room and I desperately don’t want him to wake up as well, but when my daughter wakes up at 2 in the morning I go straight in, pick her up and spend the rest of the night in the chair with her. I don’t even try to put her back down.

Is it the right option for long-term success? Probably not. Is it good for my back? Definitely not. Do I love every minute of these sleepless nights? I wouldn’t trade the world for it.

Good luck out there.
