2016 has been labelled as a rough year by many people. Sure it had a rocky finish but it wasn’t all bad, was it? Personally I thought it was GREAT! Whatever the case, it’s in the rear view mirror now. Time to get started on our hopes and dreams for 2017.
I’ve never been a big New Years person, but this year my sister came to visit from the US after 5 years apart. Although none of us actually stayed up until midnight, we watched the fireworks in London, made a toast and fell asleep by 9 (the perfect new parents version of New Years!) Before it even began, 2017 was shaping up to be a great year. Talking about shaping up, when the topic of resolutions came up I, having made none, solicited feedback:
“Go bigger with your blog!”
“Be debt free!”
“Go back to the gym?”
The latter sounded more like a plea than a suggestion.
At this point I could list a million excuses: The gym at my office closed, it’s too cold to walk to work, I’m tired from taking care of the Wee Baby T, I really like sitting on my new couch… The list goes on. But the fact of the matter is, over the last 12 months I’ve gained 20 lbs without lifting much more than a teacup.
Bearing in mind the excuses I’ve been making for the last year, I’m not going to resolve to go to the gym every day of 2017, I won’t even say I’ll ‘get back in shape’.
I’ve decided in 2017 I will be more physically active with my family. I’ll go for hikes, I’ll walk through museums, maybe do the occasional exercise routine involving the Wee Baby T.

Keep me appraised with how your resolutions are going, and as the curtain falls on 2017 let’s make sure we can look back and comment on how brilliant 2017 was.
